Meet Jenny Reddell, a Community Health Officer at LDCVS, who’s been making waves in local health and wellbeing. Most recently, Jenny contributed to a powerful new piece of research exploring Social Prescribing across Lancashire, its current picture, and the exciting (yet challenging) future ahead.

Two Key Roles. One Big Impact.

Jenny’s role supports health and wellbeing in the district in two main ways:

1. Managing the Digital Health & Wellbeing Directory

Jenny oversees the Lancaster District Digital Health and Wellbeing Directory, a live online resource that lists services, groups, and activities that support local people in living healthier, more connected lives.

Explore the Lancaster CVS Directory

She regularly meets with organisations, updates listings, and ensures that the directory reflects the vibrant, diverse support available across our communities.

“I love this part of my job,” says Jenny. “It’s so inspiring to see how much free or low-cost support is out there, right on people’s doorsteps.”

2. Light Touch Social Prescribing

As the LDCVS Hub Link Worker, Jenny also supports people referred by health professionals who need non-clinical help for challenges like loneliness, emotional wellbeing, or confidence.

Her approach complements GP-based social prescribing teams, who offer longer-term support. Jenny provides a more flexible, community-first response—connecting people with local services and opportunities using her in-depth knowledge of what’s out there.

“I’m not a clinician or mental health worker,” Jenny explains. “But I know our community really well, and I love helping people take that first step to feeling better and finding their place.”

Get Involved

If you run a local group, service or activity that promotes health and wellbeing, you can get listed in the directory or connect with Jenny to collaborate.
